Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, responsible for all aspects of managing a fifteen (15) Neurosurgeon practice, which included a 40,000 square foot medical office building, 11 satellite offices, a freestanding radiology unit (MRI, CT and Xray) and Ambulatory Surgery Center. Direct supervision of five managers and the indirect supervision of 75+ employees. The practice provides billing revenues in excess of $75 million annually, with an operating budget exceeding $10 million.

Achievements:

Increased cash flows to achieve a daily goal of $76,000 per day and implemented an operating reserve. Increases in cash flows allowed for shareholder bonus distributions in all quarters of 2008.

Revamped billing department to optimize revenues, through timely and correct billing processes.

Established a finance committee to scrutinize expenses and make recommendations regarding organizational expenses.

Established an expense based budget.

Established an operating reserve of $500,000.

Negotiated new Malpractice contracts to a zero deductible.

Negotiated new benefits package, allowing for more comprehensive coverage and an estimated cost savings of $50,000 year.

Direct supervision of thirteen managers with indirect oversight of 200+ employees and 250+ physicians. Flow integration with inpatient facilities, including The Ross Heart Hospital, The Davis Heart and Lung Hospital and the James Cancer Hospital . Responsibility over all Internal Medicine and Medical Specialty units, including Pulmonology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Immunology, Nephrology, Cardiology, Dermatology, Infectious Disease and a free standing endoscopy center.

Reporting directly to the Director of Medical Specialties, recruited to turn around crisis-plagued region, maintain strategic direction for 12 surgical specialty departments and manage $13 million budget with 100+ staff. Responsible for the oversight and operations of all surgical practices across six sites. Services included Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Wound Care, ENT, Urology, General Surgery, Bariatrics, Podiatry, Ambulatory Surgery Center , Pre-Op Testing, Recovery Room and Surgery Scheduling. Further responsibilities included the negotiation of labor contracts, HIPAA security compliance, space planning, and physician productivity in the office setting and Operating Room. Since Kaiser Permanente consists mostly of organized labor groups, there were responsibilities involving the labor partnership, which included the development and maintenance of relationships with the various union employee groups and their representative agents.

Additionally, was called upon during times of shortage to direct Plastic Surgery and Ophthalmology operations. Total responsibility included 80+ employees and 25 physicians. Employee groups consisted of Physician Assistants, Registered Nurses, Technicians, Prosthetists, LVNs and administrative and clerical staff. Budgetary responsibility exceeded $10 million per year. Other duties included ensuring NCQA and JCAHO compliance, payroll, fiscal and strategic oversight, project management, quality outcomes, labor negotiations and access standards.
